
Position: Analyst-Private Equity
Department: Investment
Reports to: Manager: Alternative Investments
Purpose of the Position:
- To engage in the analysis, monitoring of portfolios and portfolio companies within the global private equity programme.
- To assist the Manager: Alternative Investments through, inter alia, allocating alternative forms of debt and equity for portfolio diversification, matching the duration of fund liabilities, and boosting investment returns by outperforming public market equivalents.
Key Performance Areas:
- Review, analyze, and report on the Quarterly Reports and Annual Financial Statements of the various Private Equity Funds.
- Interview various Fund Managers and present findings to the Manager: Alternative Investment in line with investments in line with the Investment Policy Guidelines for each Mandate.
- Prepare investment memos for discussion at the Advisory Board meetings with Fund Managers.
- Liaise with the ESG Analyst to ensure ESG integration and measuring of socio-economic impact.
- Design criteria and parameters for research analysis on market trends, strategies, industries, sectors, geographies, and other topics as required.
- Maintain a register of the respective Funds invested in.
- Collaborate with the Manager: Alternative Investments and Consultants to identify, review, and evaluate prospective Funds and conduct due diligence of Fund Managers.
- Propose commercial terms and investment guidelines in line with similar investment strategies using preliminary insights for trends in Fund Economics.
- Liaise with the Legal department to ensure addendums to all agreements.
- Review of the Portfolio Administration and accounting of funds with support from Finance & Administration and the Fund Accounting team.
- Liaise with the Portfolio Administrator and Treasury Department for effective cash management, accounting, and compliance of various funds.
Job-related qualifications and experience:
- B. Commerce/Finance/Economics Science (NQF Level 7.
- Four (4) years’ experience in a Fund/Asset Management environment with at least two (2) years’ experience in Private Equity financial modelling and financial statement analysis.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
- Coursework/training in Private Equity CAIA, CFA, FMVA.
- Registered Persons Exams 1-4 with SAIFM.
The incumbent should have the following knowledge, skills, and Attributes:
Knowledge of:
Investment instruments available, understanding of Namibian investment landscape, GIPF mandate, regulation 13 of Pension Fund Act, ILPA principles, Private Equity industry, National development plans, Financial statement analysis.
Skills
