Position:                    Developer

Purpose of the Position:

  • To plan, design, develop, evaluate, test, debug, integrate, implement, maintain, and upgrade high quality, innovative, and fully performing software systems, web-based solutions, mobile applications, and interfaces that comply with coding standards and technical design whilst adhering to the steps of the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC).

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Gather functional and technical requirements, strategize ideas for beneficial software, design and develop software, test coding errors, and ensure system development services and projects meet the intended requirements and goals.
  • Accomplish the development of software solutions by completing related tasks and results as needed.
  • Consult clients and internal IS workforce concerning the maintenance and performance of software and database systems.
  • Collaborate with senior developer, develop logical and physical specifications.
  • System architecture and software security.
  • Analyse data to effectively coordinate the installation of new systems or the modification of existing systems.
  • Ascertain reports for accuracy and consistency and make amendments if any are required.
  • Assess the integrity of software applications and systems on a regular basis through monitoring or feedback from applications support teams and users.
  • Assess and validate proposed solutions for interoperability and performance.
  • Software solutions, testing, validation & quality control.
  • Adhere to software version control standards and procedures.
  • Accomplish the development of software solutions by completing related tasks and results as needed.

 

Job-related qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in Computer Science or software engineering/development or another field with programming as a major (NQF Level 7.
  • 3 years’ experience in a programming environment in an organisation of similar complexity.
  • COBIT 5 certification will be an added advantage.
  • Training or certification in Oracle database programming or in project management.
  • Training or certification in Oracle E-Business Suite implementation.
  • Proficiency in Oracle, C#. NET, WCF, MS SQL, NoSQL, Java, PHP, HTML5, XML, SOAP/REST.
  • Experience in the development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications.
  • Familiar with Web servers, IIS, Apache HTTP, Apache Tomcat, GlassFish, and Oracle web servers and meta frameworks.
  • Familiar with Robotic Process Automation.
  • Experience with the software development life cycle and documentation.

Business processes modelling and engineering, systems and functionalities, efficiency assessment, business procedures, data management concepts, mathematics and statistics, data extraction, business intelligence, and reports configurations, accounting and financial management, oracle forms and reports, applications security, systems architecture knowledge, mobile applications development, troubleshooting, cost/benefits analysis, systems installation and configuration, web servers management, system analysis and design principles, project management principles, Database management and/or administration principles, applicable programming principles and/or languages and scrum/agile development.

Skills:

Administration, advising, communication, controlling, coaching and training, project management, presentation, systems operating, decision making, conceptual reasoning, problem solving, and analytical thinking. Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting technological platforms and systems.
