Position:                    Business Analyst

Department:            IS Department

Reports to:                Senior Business Analyst

 

Purpose of the Position:

  • To compile and develop business cases, elicit business requirements, model business processes, and identify the appropriate type of information system solutions for the business.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Evaluate and prioritise changes and support management requests in consultation with the Senior Business Analyst
  • Review and propose business information system needs and standards
  • Facilitate effective communication between technical teams and business units
  • Engage business process owners and solution developers on effective business process and technical specifications
  • Define and structure solutions to business problems using a wide range of methods and tools.
  • From ongoing analysis of usage patterns of operational systems assess new functionality, ensure approval, and implement new requirements.
  • From the analyst performed on an ongoing basis, designs and submits technical data flow plans with detail requirements
  • Assess critical efficiency measurements of information systems against benchmarking (e.g processing times, failure rates errors etc.) as well as where and how they can be measured.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Business Analyst ensure the compilation of system improvements, project updates, define project phases, and upgrade project plans according to available resources for the suggested project with exact milestones and deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with organizational developments in the industry as well as all other relevant developments on national and international level and propose innovation accordingly.

 

Job-related qualifications and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, information systems or business administration, NQF Level 7
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in an information systems environment, of which two (2) years should be in business systems and processes support and requirements gathering.
  • Knowledge of systems in the financial industry or any of the following systems will be an added advantage: Oracle Technology solutions, systems development life cycle, human-computer interface design (HCI), and Data Analytics
  • Experience in administering, supporting, and/or as an expert-level user of pension fund management systems
  • Experience working with Document Management systems and workflow systems.

 

Special Requirements/Licences

  • COBIT 5 certification will be an added advantage
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification will be an added advantage
  • Training or certification in project management
  • Training or certification in Oracle E-Business Suite Implementation
  • ITIL Foundation certification will be an added advantage
